What do I need to run ffado?

You need the following to use ffado:

  1. A Firewire-equipped machine running Linux, with a recent 2.6 kernel. It’s possible to use a 2.4 kernel, but patches are needed.
  2. A supported Firewire audio device.
  3. The correct options need to be enabled in your kernel configuration, either compiled into the kernel, or loaded as separate modules. Examples provided will focus on recent 2.6 kernels. If your kernel version or distro has a different configuration process, or requires different options be enabled, let us know by posting to the ffado-user mailing list. 4. The build dependencies listed in the README file.
  5. While not absolutely needed, you may find the graphical front-end to JACK, qjackctl, to be very useful.
  6. Software to work with (record, play back, mix, add effects, master, convert file formats, etc…) the audio. There are tons of apps built for this purpose. (EXPAND THIS)
