Hi there, are there any updates on the status of this support? The Konnekt 48 looks like a great piece of kit!

I'm thinking to buy a new audio intreface.
I would like to buy this one. Is it a good idea?
I'm talking about ffado support, course.

How much does TCelectronic give support or information to this poroject ?

Yes now I have got Konnekt 48 and it works great, with exception of ffado-mixer.
But the device can be configured ( thought official software TC Near in Wins) with 3 different routing programs.
Also the remote control works OK

Could you explain what are these 3 different rooting programs to configure Konnekt ?
Thank you in advance.

Yes. You can configure P1, P2 and P3 in diferent routing/mixing configurations with "TC Control panel" software (only MacOS and Windows) and if you have a TC Remote Control you will can to change between them without the need to use "TC Control Panel" software.

Thank you for these clarifications.
Too bad we can not have its capabilities from linux via ffado-mixer.
Maybe later?

To get Konnekt 48 of TCElectronic working we must to edit the file
~/.ffado/configuration
and append the next lines:

{
vendorid = 0x166;
modelid = 0x22;
vendorname = "TC Electronic";
modelname = "Studio Konnekt 48";
driver = 20;
},

Thanks for this information. I've committed this to trunk - see svn rev 1954.

I have made these changes to the usr/share/libffado2/configuration file and when I reboot still no blue light which means a connection with my Studio Konnekt 48.....any help.....am I looking in the wrong place ??

TIA

David Blackmon

I am runnining unbuntu Studio 13.04 .....does that make any difference. It says I am running FFADO 2.1 but I can't get this thing to connect for the life of me. Any help would be very much appreciated.

TIA,

David Blackmon

I can only provide some high level suggestions since I have do direct experience with the Konnekt interfaces.

First up, I am surprised that you had to add the Konnekt 48 details to the configuration file on your system. The information provided by "Juanramon" in the earlier comment was added to the FFADO repo in commit r1954 on 11 Feb 2011. That means that it definitely should have been in the configuration file on your system since you apparently have the more recent FFADO 2.1 installed. Perhaps it was there all along and it was missed. Or maybe there's a more subtle issue going on.

Regarding FFADO 2.1, was this obtained from the Ubuntu repository or did you compile it yourself?

Could you provide the output produced on your system when running "ffado-diag"? Also, could you post your jackd command line and whatever output is produced by it? This may give some indication as to what the problem might be.

I was thinking about some strange thing

I own a Konnekt 48 and a Focusrite PRO 40.
Both have the same chip inside (DICE).
But when I start the PRO40 the load of jack DSP (and CPU load) is 50% less than when I use the Konnekt48.
i.e. When I start the focusrite DSP of jack show 15% but when I start Konnekt 48 the DSP is about 28 or 30 %, and the same thing happens to de CPU.

Someone of the developers can illuminate me why?

Thanks

I don't own any DICE-equipped interfaces. The most obvious potential reason is that perhaps one of the interfaces had more audio channels active than the other. More channels means ffado has more work to do converting audio samples into the format required by the device, and taking data from the device and converting it back for use by jackd. This could translate into differing CPU loadings. Although at first glance I agree that a difference along the lines that you see does seem a little large there may be subtleties with these devices that I am not aware of.

Somebody knows if there is some way to launch TC Control Panel under linux. Maybe through wine.

I've seen that looks like a TC Panel in a linux desktop in this post.

http://ffado.org/?q=node/603

Maybe P. Palmers can explain us how to do it.

It would be nice!
I would be interested in this method to use it with my Konnekt 24D.

I work on Ubuntu since a few month and I'd like to buy the Desktop Konnekt 6... but for now, I'm not sure it'll be recognized on my PC... USB Digital TV Tuner ... Anyone know if this is on or off by default with ffado and how to reverse it.

FFADO does not deal with USB devices and does not influence them at all. As to the Desktop Konnekt 6, I'll leave commenting to others who have more experience with this device family.

Under ubuntu 14.04

I downloaded latest version from svn because libffado version on repositories didn't worked for me. I compiled and it began to be recognised with ffado-mixer.
besides i must make changes over /etc/default/security/limits.conf adding:

@audio - rtprio 99
@audio - memlock unlimited
@audio - nice -10

at the end of the file and adding my user to group "audio"

Then i started QjackControl to see what i have and default configuration didn't work. Now i use:

Driver: firewire

RealTime isn't checked
Memory Block isn't checked

Periods: 256
48KHz on frequency
2 buffers/period
max ports 512

With this configuration it works but i have a lot of xruns and periodically i get about 2 seconds of silence.
Besides i have the same signal on every output of Studio Konnect 48 and QjackControls isn't configured this way.

Did you re-login after adding yourself to the audio group? Group ownership changes only take effect at the next login after they were made.

If Qjackctl's "RealTime" item refers to realtime scheduling then this should be checked. Without it you will get many xruns.

If that still doesn't resolve the problem, have a look at various drivers your system may have loaded; in the past we've seen some wireless cards and card readers can cause issues with realtime-critical systems such as FFADO. Drop us a line if you need further assistance. You may find it useful to subscribe to the ffado-user list and post there instead - I think there are more eyes watching the list than are actively reading the forum posts.
