The FFADO project aims to provide a generic, open-source solution for the support of FireWire based audio devices for the Linux platform. It is the successor of the FreeBoB project.

FFADO is a volunteer-based community effort, trying to provide Linux with at least the same level of functionality that is present on the other operating systems.

It has recently come to light that the source tarball for FFADO 2.4.8 included an extraneous top-level directory in the directory structure. While this doesn’t prevent the source from building, it may create problems for automated build scripts. The FFADO 2.4.8 tarball has been refreshed to remove the unnecessary top-level directory, making its structure consistent with all previous FFADO source tarballs.

The FFADO project announces the availability of FFADO version 2.4.8. This is a maintenance release to address issues encountered since version 2.4.7.

FFADO version 2.4.4 is now available.

The only change since 2.4.3 is the disabling of the prompt for optional device registration. The data obtained from the registrations is of limited utility in 2020 so there is little reason to continue its collection.

In May 2020 it was noticed that the ffado.org website was frequently failing to render when visited. To maintain access to our releases while this was looked into, a temporary placeholder page was activated. As of today, the majority of the site is accessible again, albeit on a different platform.

The FFADO project is pleased to make FFADO version 2.4.3 available. This is a bug-fix release to address some minor problems which have been noted in version 2.4.2.

FFADO version 2.4.2 is now available. This is a bugfix release with a small number of changes mostly associated with the use of python3 and (when building) scons3.
